How it all began…
Monday 17th AugOne day in June 2025, after a seemingly innocent blood check, I was called by my GP with the news that I had to go to the emergency room right away. I left the office, not yet knowing that my, and my family’s life would change entirely.
📣 It turned out that I am suffering from severe shortage of all blood cells because my bone marrow is not making them any more, the first thought of the doctors was that it could be acute leukemia. What followed was months of tests, several blood transfusions per week to keep me alive, unexpected hospital stays for infections and amazing doctors who still struggled to find my diagnosis.
Luckily I have a wonderful medical team around me at the academic hospital in Amsterdam and it looks promising that a good donor match is found.
The stars are aligning that I can start my healing journey soon. It will be a long road with many unknowns but who worked with me knows, I am a fighter. I’m deeply grateful for the chance to fight for getting my life back.
